Arsenal have reportedly lodged a formal bid of £29m for in-demand Roma winger Cengiz Under.
The 21-year-old's performances for Roma this season have further enhanced his burgeoning reputation amongst some of Europe's top clubs, having scored five goals and created three more in 19 appearances across all competitions.
Tottenham Hotspur are already understood to have seen a bid rejected for Under, and Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb reports that their North London rivals Arsenal have now followed suit after scouting him on numerous occasions.
The Gunners reportedly offered €32m (£29m) for the Turkey international, only to see Roma immediately reject the approach.
The Italian outfit are thought to value Under at closer to €50m (£45m) and are reluctant to sell him midway through the season as they bid to close a five-point gap which currently separates them from the Champions League places in Serie A.
Both Spurs and Arsenal are expected to return with improved bids for the youngster, but any potential suitors may be forced to wait until next summer to secure his signature.
