Arsenal have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe on loan until January.
The ex-England international is believed to have arrived in the country earlier today, with his MLS club Toronto thought to be prepared to part with his services.
That is said to have made him a target of Queens Park Rangers, with Crystal Palace also credited with an interest in his services.
However, with centre-forward Olivier Giroud ruled out through injury until next year, the Gunners have been given the chance to recruit the 31-year-old on a loan basis initially, with the deal then being reviewed during the winter transfer window, according to numerous reports.
Defoe is 14th on the Premier League's all-time leading goalscorers list having found the net on 124 occasions.
