Arsenal 'open to Eddie Nketiah sale this summer'

Arsenal are allegedly open to parting ways with forward Eddie Nketiah before the end of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly become increasingly open to selling Eddie Nketiah during the summer transfer window.

Last summer, the Gunners placed faith in the forward by handing him a five-year contract, with Nketiah rejecting the chance to leave on a free transfer.

The former England Under-21 star would go on to make 39 appearances across four different competitions in 2022-23, chipping in with nine goals and three assists.

However, just four strikes came from 1,069 minutes of Premier League football, the 24-year-old failing to deliver when Gabriel Jesus spent a number of months on the sidelines through injury.

With it known that offers will be considered for Folarin Balogun on the back of his productive loan spell at Reims, the belief was that Nketiah would remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Instead, The Independent claims that consideration will be given to selling the backup striker if a suitable offer arrives.

The report says that only one of Nketiah and Balogun will be allowed to leave North London, and it remains the case that the latter is expected to sign for another club.

Nevertheless, Balogun has publicly stated that he will not accept a loan exit from Arsenal this summer, throwing open the possibility of staying at his current club unless they receive a bid to their liking.

While Arsenal may demand a similar fee for Nketiah, the frontman has never scored more than five goals in a league campaign at senior level, something which may impact on proposals put forward for his signature.

Arsenal are about to clinch the signing of Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz in a deal worth in the region of £65m, that move leaving each of Nketiah and Balogun down the pecking order.

As well as Nketiah and Balogun, Arsenal are also ready to consider offers that are made for Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey over the coming weeks.

Tierney's game time has been restricted since the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer and the Scotland international allegedly has admirers in Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, the possible additions of Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia have resulted in Mikel Arteta being willing to cash in on Partey, who allegedly has interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. body check tags ::
