Arsenal are reportedly hopeful of tying Eddie Nketiah down to a new three-year deal at the club.
The 22-year-old has not played a single minute of Premier League football this term but boasts two goals from two EFL Cup games against AFC Wimbledon and Leeds United.
Nketiah was widely expected to move on in the summer before the transfer window shut with the striker still at the Emirates, and he is due to become a free agent at the end of this season.
However, Mikel Arteta is keen for Nketiah to commit his future to Arsenal after his goal against Leeds, and journalist Ekrem Konur claims that the Gunners now want to tie the Englishman down for a another three years.
Konur adds that Nketiah would need assurances over his playing time before signing a new deal, though, as the forward is 'unhappy' at his lack of first-team action this term.
Nketiah's goal against Leeds was his 15th from 67 appearances in a Gunners shirt across all competitions, with five of those strikes coming in the Premier League. body check tags ::
