Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both failed with bids for 16-year-old Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga during the summer transfer window, according to a report.
The youngster announced himself on the big stage with a starring role in his side's shock 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain last weekend, earning widespread praise for his performance against the Ligue 1 champions.
Camavinga has since been tipped to enjoy a bright future and secure a move away to a big club, although L'Equipe reports that he was already on the radar of at least two Premier League giants.
The French outlet claims that North London duo Arsenal and Spurs both made approaches for the midfielder during the summer, only to be rejected by Rennes.
The offers are understood to have contained a clause which would have sent Camavinga back to Rennes on a two-year loan spell, while Arsenal are thought to have continued scouting the promising teen.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have also reportedly made overtures to Camavinga, who made seven appearances for the Rennes first team last season.
