Arsenal's hopes of landing Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal from Real Madrid could reportedly be directly linked to Gareth Bale's future at Tottenham Hotspur.
Odegaard has impressed during his short time on loan at the Emirates Stadium and recently hinted that he is interested in staying on beyond this season.
However, the loan arrangement does not include the option to buy outright and the Norway international still has another two years to run on his Madrid contract.
According to The Mirror, though, Los Blancos would be open to selling Odegaard to Arsenal if Bale remains at the Bernabeu next season.
Bale has spent 2020-21 on loan with the Gunners' bitter rivals Spurs, but he revealed on Tuesday that he plans on returning to Madrid in the summer to see out the final year of his contract.
Madrid are not expected to find any buyers for the Wales international, and is it claimed that Zinedine Zidane will be under pressure to use the forward more regularly next season given his £600,000-a-week wages.
