Bayern Munich have dropped out of the race to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, paving the way for Arsenal to secure his services.
The French international's agent confirmed that he held talks with the German side, but they passed up the opportunity to offer him a contract.
"We had contact with Bayern Munich over Yann M'Vila," Werner Baader told the French press.
"He is not the kind of player they are looking for at Bayern. They are looking for someone in this position, but they want somebody with different abilities."
M'Vila, who is expected to quit Rennes this summer after falling out with the club's coaching staff, is likely to cost Arsenal around £12m.
