Norwich City manager Chris Hughton will reportedly plead with the club's directors for financial support in the January transfer window.
Sunderland are the only Premier League side that have scored fewer goals than the Canaries this season and Hughton is keen to bolster his side's attacking options.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh and West Ham United's Carlton Cole are top of Hughton's shortlist.
Grant Holt is Norwich's top goalscorer this campaign, with three goals in 11 appearances.
