Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly both in the running to sign AC Milan attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at San Siro in the summer and it is looking increasingly unlikely that he will agree fresh terms.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Milan offered a take-it-or-leave-it €4m-a-year (£3.5m) contract to Calhanoglu, but he is after a €5m (£4.2m) deal.
That has paved the way for other clubs to step forward with offers, with the same report indicating that Chelsea and Arsenal are among those to have opened talks with the player's entourage.
It is claimed that the English duo can offer the Turkey international big wages, but they are unable to compete with the sums Milan's rivals Juventus are prepared to pay, making them the favourites to land his signature.
Calhanoglu has eight assists and two goals in 24 Serie A appearances this season. body check tags ::
