Mesut Ozil is to be offered Arsenal's highest ever compensation package to remain at the club, according to a report.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who recently set a Premier League record for assists in consecutive games, joined the Gunners in September 2013 for a club-record £42.4m fee.
Italian website Tutto Mercato Web reports that Ozil will be offered a salary package worth £8.2m a year to extend his current contract, which expires in 2018, amid rumoured interest from Real Madrid.
Ozil's goalscoring involvement this season has been instrumental in Arsenal's rise up the Premier League table to second, two points adrift of leaders Leicester City.
