Olympiacos and Greece defender Kostas Manolas has reportedly undergone a medical at Arsenal ahead of an £8m switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Speculation has mounted that manager Arsene Wenger has identified the Greek as an ideal replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who joined Barcelona last week.
Negotiations are believed to have been completed and, according to Goal.com, the 23-year-old is close to becoming the Gunners' fifth summer signing after undergoing a physical exam.
Should the move materialise, Manolas would follow Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and goalkeeper David Ospina in moving to North London.
Wenger's side enjoyed a winning start to their Premier League campaign, as Aaron Ramsey bagged a 91st-minute winner in Saturday's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
