Auxerre chairman Guy Cotret has said that Arsenal will assess Yaya Sanogo before deciding whether the striker can return to the Ligue 2 side on loan.
The 63-year-old wants the France Under-21 international, who scored nine goals in eight appearances this season, to spearhead the Corsican outfit's bid for a return to the top flight.
However, any decision on Sanogo's immediate future will be left until after pre-season preparations.
"[Arsene Wenger] will only loan [Sanogo] back to us if he considers the player is not ready to join his team after the preseason preparations," Cotret told a French radio station. "Otherwise he will not loan him."
Sanogo revealed earlier this month that he rejected a number of offers in order to join the Gunners.
