Schalke 04 general manager Horst Heldt has claimed that Arsenal cannot afford to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Dutch forward, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with interest from a number of Premier League sides.
Heldt admits that Schalke would be willing to sell Huntelaar in January if the price were right, but he does not believe that the Emirates Stadium is a realistic destination for the player.
He said: "There have been no offers or any sign of Klaas-Jan leaving.
"If someone comes to us six months before the expiry date, and has a lot of money, we will deal with it.
"But from Arsenal circles we hear there is no money anyway."
Huntelaar has scored four goals in five Champions League appearances this season.
