Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is waiting for club captain Robin Van Persie to sign a new contract before he commits his future to the Gunners.
Both players, who have often spoken of their admiration for one another, have just one year left on their current deals at the Emirates Stadium with the Dutch striker strongly being linked with a move away from North London.
It is thought that if the Gunners skipper leaves the club this transfer window then the England forward will wait for Europe's elite clubs to make him an offer.
A source said in The Sun: "It seems unbelievable the club has left it until well into the last year of the contracts and still not managed to get either player sorted."
Manchester City and Juventus are both reportedly interested in signing Van Persie who would be available on a free next summer.
The Serie A champions are also keen on his teammate Walcott, and have left Juve chief Pavel Nedved to make his move for the pair in order to lead the club back to former glory days.
Walcott has also been linked with a move across London to Champions League winners Chelsea.
