Where next for Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo?

Sports Mole identifies five possible suitors for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo.

Last season proved to be an impressive campaign for Alvaro Negredo, with the Sevilla striker finding the back of the net on 31 occasions for the Spanish outfit.

It is no secret that his club have financial issues, therefore it is difficult to imagine that Sevilla would be in a position to reject an offer in the region of £20m for the Spaniard's services.

A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in his services, and with that in mind, Sports Mole has identified five possible suitors for the 27-year-old.

Manchester City

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is expected to add to his striking department this summer following the departure of Mario Balotelli in January and Carlos Tevez this summer.

Thus far the Premier League outfit have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Napoli forward Edinson Cavani and while Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains an option, it is difficult to see the Swede moving to the club.

Pellegrini knows all about Negredo's quality having watched him from close quarters last season - a campaign that saw the Spanish forward register 25 league goals in 36 games.

However, with the World Cup to come next summer, it is unlikely that Negredo would be prepared to sit on the bench for City, with Pellegrini reportedly seeing the striker as more of a back-up option rather than a key member of his starting side.

Tottenham Hotspur

It does not take a genius to identify the area that Tottenham Hotspur desperately need to strengthen this summer if they are to challenge for a Champions League spot next season.

The likes of Leandro Damiao and Roberto Soldado have been linked with the English outfit in recent months, but thus far no real progress has been made on either front.

Unlike City, Spurs would be able to offer Negredo regular football, which would prove an attractive option for the Spaniard as he targets a position in the Spain squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Even if Emmanuel Adebayor remains at White Hart Lane this summer, Spurs still need at least one more forward to complement Jermain Defoe.

However, it is believed that Negredo will only move for Champions League football, which could prove to be Spurs' Achilles heel in the transfer market once more.

Arsenal

Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain have all been linked with big-money moves to the Emirates Stadium this summer, but thus far the Gunners have been frustrated in the transfer market.

Rooney will stay at Manchester United according to boss David Moyes, while Liverpool will not entertain bids of less than £40m for Suarez, who has indicated a desire to leave Anfield.

It is no secret that Higuain has been the top target this summer, but with Real Madrid playing hard-ball over a transfer figure, manager Arsene Wenger could be forced to look elsewhere in Spain.

That would open the door for a move for Negredo, who has struck 59 league goals for Sevilla in the last three seasons.

The Gunners would be able to offer Negredo European football, while the chance to move to London would surely prove to be an attractive proposition for the former Real Madrid B striker.

Atletico Madrid

Having lost Radamel Falcao to Monaco this summer, Atletico Madrid are reported to be still in the market for a new striker despite acquiring David Villa and Leo Baptistao.

Atletico would also be able to offer the Spaniard Champions League football, while the chance to play under the charismatic Diego Simeone would surely appeal to the 27-year-old.

Negredo could also see remaining in La Liga as his best chance of securing a spot in the Spain squad for the World Cup, with Atletico the obvious step-up from Sevilla.

However, it is unlikely that Sevilla would be prepared to do business with a domestic rival, unless Atletico submit a large offer for Negredo's services this summer.

Meanwhile, the player himself would also surely seek assurances of regular football for the capital outfit.

Chelsea

Like Arsenal, the Blues have been linked with a host of big-name strikers this summer, namely Cavani, Suarez and Rooney.

The former is reportedly close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, while it appears that manager Jose Mourinho will be frustrated in his attempts to acquire either Suarez or Rooney.

Romelu Lukaku's return certainly gives Chelsea options in attack, but it would be a surprise if Mourinho does not look to bring in competition for Demba Ba - who is reportedly for sale - and Fernando Torres this summer.

The chance to play under Mourinho next season could turn Negredo's head, while Champions League football and the chance to live in London would also prove attractive prospects.

That said, Negredo will surely want assurances of first-team football before he contemplates moving to Stamford Bridge.
