Zenit St Petersburg have made an approach to sign Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin on a loan basis, according to Russian media.
Arshavin is believed to be keen on a move away from the Emirates Stadium, having struggled for form and fitness this season.
Zenit would be able to offer the 30-year-old regular first-team football with the European Championships approaching in the summer.
"Arshavin would interest us in terms of having him on loan," Zenit general director Maxim Mitrofanov was quoted as saying by local media on Wednesday.
"[Besides helping Zenit] Andrey would also be well prepared for the upcoming Euro 2012 finals. The question is what Arsenal really want, would they want a loan deal?"
Arshavin left Zenit in 2009 to join the Gunners.
