AS Monaco kept themselves in a strong position to secure European qualification with a comfortable 3-1 victory away at Evian TG in Ligue 1 this evening.
Evian's Adrien Thomasson went close early on in the game when he forced a smart stop from Danijel Subasic down at his bottom-right corner.
It took Monaco a while to get going, but they found an opener through Anthony Martial, who collected from Layvin Kurzawa to smash home into the top-left corner in the 18th minute.
The visitors found themselves two goals ahead in the 36th minute when Abdallah deflected Dimitar Berbatov's effort into his own goal to make it 2-0 to Leonardo Jardim's men.
Kurzawa should have made it 3-0 just before the interval, but the full-back somehow managed to head wide from close range following Bernardo Silva's corner.
Monaco's dominance continued after the break and they were soon three goals to the good as Almamy Toure reacted quickest to a free kick to finish low past Benjamin Leroy.
Evian were able to grab a goal back through Pape Amodou Sougou with nine minutes left to play, but it was too little, too late as Monaco claimed all three points on the road.
