Monaco have missed the chance to close the gap on Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the Ligue 1 table, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Lille this evening.
The hosts took the lead within 10 minutes as Valere Germain's cross eluded Vincent Enyeama, allowing Mounir Obbadi to finish into an empty net for the opening goal.
Lille had a penalty appeal turned down after half an hour as Salomon Kalou's shot appeared to hit the arm of Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, although the referee remained unmoved by the claims.
The visitors got their equaliser on the stroke of half time, however, as Kalou and Ryan Mendes combined on the counter-attack to set up Divock Origi, who made no mistake with his finish from close range.
They almost completed a comeback eight minutes after the restart as Kalou's pass released Jonathan Delaplace through on goal, but Danijel Subasic was off his line quickly to smother the ball.
Monaco had a fine chance to regain the lead with 20 minutes of the half remaining when Dimitar Berbatov lost his marker from a corner, but couldn't keep his header down.
That proved to be the last clear opening of the match as the two teams had to make do with a point apiece.
