Tim Sherwood has described reaching the FA Cup final with Aston Villa as a "fantastic achievement" for the club.
The Villans will compete in the Wembley showdown for the first time since 2000, having overcome Liverpool 2-1 in the last four of the competition.
Despite their Premier League woes this season, which saw Villa finish just three points above the drop zone, Sherwood is backing his side to make it up to the supporters in style this weekend.
"To be part of an FA Cup final is a fantastic achievement," he told reporters. "I'm very proud. We're not going there to make up the numbers.
"On big occasions they've produced the goods and we need to do it one more time. The boys know they can make history. Someone can be a hero in there.
"I think the fans appreciate what I've done. I want them to enjoy the day. It's not often you get to go to Wembley. I want to make sure we're back in August for the Community Shield."
Villa have won the FA Cup on seven occasions.
