Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede has expressed his desire to see his side's 1-0 derby win over Birmingham City in the League Cup help kick-start their Premier League season.
The 26-year-old scored Villa's winner in a hard-fought victory over the Blues, a result which sees Tim Sherwood's side progress to the fourth round of the competition.
Gestede told Sky Sports News: "It was a tough game today. It was important to get the win, for confidence, as we didn't start the season well in the league.
"We changed it a bit in the second half, we tried to get the ball more. We got the ball into feet and did very well. It was good management. We needed a win, it is very important for us."
Villa currently sit 17th in the Premier League table with four points from six games.
