Tim Sherwood has insisted that Aston Villa will give the club's supporters a performance to be proud of when they take on Birmingham City in the third round of the League Cup.
A thrilling 5-3 victory over Notts County in extra time was enough for Villa to secure their progress on Tuesday night, and Sherwood is fully aware of the pressure on his shoulders after a clash with their rivals was confirmed.
"I have never been involved in that game," he told reporters. "Obviously I know now, two minutes after the teams were drawn out together, how important it is.
"If the fans stick with us like they did tonight, we will give them something to shout about. We owe it to them.
"The reason we're playing Birmingham is because of what they did tonight."
Villa will switch their focus back to the Premier League when they meet Sunderland on Saturday.
