New Aston Villa signing Adama Traore has opted to play for Mali rather than Spain at international level.
Traore, who joined Villa from Barcelona in a deal reported to be worth £7m, has already represented Spain at youth international levels.
However, the Mali Football Federation told BBC Sport that it has already met with the 19-year-old and say he plans to play for the homeland of his parents after securing a move away from Camp Nou.
FIFA is yet to receive an official request from the winger regarding his national allegiance.
