Joe Cole has described Philippe Senderos as a "good signing" for Aston Villa after the Switzerland international agreed a two-year contract with the club.
The defender was confirmed as one of the club's first signings of the summer earlier this month, while Cole also moved to Villa Park on a free transfer after being released by West Ham United.
The midfielder told his new club's website: "Philippe is a good signing. He's a good player, no question about that. He's experienced, but he's still young.
"He's played at some big clubs like Milan and Arsenal. He's currently competing in his third World Cup for Switzerland. That says a lot in itself.
"Importantly, he's a real leader out there on the pitch and a model professional off the field too. It's another senior player that adds to that blend we have of experience and youth."
Senderos spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia.
