Idrissa Gueye has admitted that he is using Aston Villa as a stepping stone to join a "big club" later in his career.
The 25-year-old completed his move from French club Lille earlier this month, but he has made it clear that his long-term future lies away from Villa Park.
"I wanted a change of scenery," he told L'Equipe. "The most important thing was to come to England to improve and aim for a big club later.
"It's a league which suits me down to the ground. The box-to-box style is very much mine. I think I'll enjoy it.
"My choice was always oriented towards England. I never hid that when I spoke to them."
Gueye has made 24 appearances for the Senegal national side.
