Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has revealed that he is considering a coaching role for Stiliyan Petrov at the club.
The 33-year-old midfielder announced his retirement on Thursday due to his recent battle with leukaemia.
"There is something in my head I would like to speak to him about regarding coaching," Lambert told reporters.
"I am not sure whether that would be on a full-time or a part-time basis. The door is always open to him here and that has nothing to do with sentimental reasons."
Petrov will lead his teammates on a lap of honour around Villa Park on Sunday following their final home game of the season against Chelsea.
