Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has said that the club have "nothing to lose" in their fight for survival in the Premier League.
Despite Saturday's 2-0 win over Norwich City, Villa remain eight points from safety, but Lescott has backed his side to continue battling for their top-flight status in their last 13 games.
The 33-year-old is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "Absolutely everyone has written us off so we've got nothing to lose. If we go down everyone just says, 'Well, we knew that in January or February'.
"But we've got a great fighting spirit and we believe if we show that kind of desire and attitude in every game we'll make a real fight of it."
Villa are next in action when they host Liverpool on February 14.
