Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish was delighted with what he described as an "excellent performance" from his Aston Villa side against Wigan Athletic this afternoon.
Visiting Wigan held a positive record from past meetings at Villa Park between the two sides, and McLeish was happy to see that run come to an end with a 2-0 victory.
"We were very good," McLeish told Sky Sports News. "We laid the ghost of Wigan having a really good record here which is pleasing."
The boss also praised Gabriel Agbonlahor, who opened the scoring before setting up Darren Bent to score game's second goal.
"[Agbonlahor] was a handful," added the Scot. "We've been working on things in training with him.
"He's also lightning quick."
Villa have moved up to sixth in the Premier League table.
