Molde have confirmed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has begun discussions with Aston Villa over becoming the club's new manager.
The former Manchester United striker emerged as the favourite to snatch the vacancy with the Midlands club yesterday.
While Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez and Norwich City manager Paul Lambert were originally touted as the club's top targets, Solskjaer's current Norwegian club have announced that he is in talks with Villa's American owner Randy Lerner.
The 39-year-old, who led Molde to their first Norwegian league title last year, is expected to fly to England with Lerner in the businessman's private jet.
