Former Aston Villa defender Shaun Teale has said that the Villa Park faithful have lost trust in the Randy Lerner regime.
The 48-year-old believes that the appointment of former Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish last summer was a universally unpopular move.
Teale said that the fans would be happy if the American sold the club tomorrow.
"I think the thought with Aston Villa fans is if he got someone to buy it tomorrow he'd be gone," Teale told talkSPORT. "And I think the fans would like that, I don't think the fans trust him anymore. There has been an awful lot said. "Even with the appointment of Alex McLeish there were all sorts of people thrown in the hat first and it was all a smokescreen for Alex coming over. I think the mistrust is there now." Lerner bought the club from long-time owner Doug Ellis in 2006.
