West Bromwich Albion have held Aston Villa to a 1-0 away victory this afternoon, thanks to a goal from Saido Berahino.
The visitors started the game positively, as Salomon Rondon forced a strong reaction save from Brad Guzan after just two minutes, before Jonny Evans and Berahino both missed the target early on.
Villa's first chance of the match fell to Carles Gil, who looked certain to score from 12 yards, but Claudio Yacob produced a block to save West Brom.
The Baggies took the lead on 39 minutes through Berahino, who pounced on a deflected James Morrison shot to finish past Guzan.
After the break Carlos Sanchez produced a long-range effort to test Boaz Myhill, but the West Brom keeper saved comfortably, before Rondon had two efforts kept out by Villa's backline.
The Venezuelan striker came close to adding a second goal for the Baggies moments later with a low shot, but Guzan dealt with the effort, before the American keeper was forced into another save by Rondon late on.
Villa had a chance to snatch a point before the final whistle, but Rudy Gestede headed over from a good position.
