Aston Villa have completed the signing of Lucas Digne from Everton for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old had fallen out of favour under Rafael Benitez at Goodison Park and had a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle United, reportedly after his signature.
However, Aston Villa have now won the race for the France international full-back, who becomes the club's second signing of the January window after Philippe Coutinho's loan from Barcelona.
"When Lucas became available we jumped at the opportunity to bring him to the club," manager Steven Gerrard told the club's official website.
"To sign a player of his pedigree and quality in the January window is a great addition to our squad and his arrival excites me and everyone associated with Aston Villa."
Villa are understood to have paid around £25m for Digne, who will wear the number 27 shirt and could make his debut for the club during Saturday's home Premier League game against Manchester United.
