Aston Villa's latest summer signing Jores Okore has admitted that he fell asleep during his medical in the Midlands last week.

Okore put pen to paper on a £4m switch to Villa Park last Thursday, after coming through an extensive medical at a private clinic.

The Danish international has conceded that the excitement of a move to the Premier League was not enough to stave off tiredness during an MRI scan, with the central defender eventually nodding off despite being filmed by a camera crew.

He told the Daily Mail: "I just wanted to get the MRI scan done quickly. Boy was I wrong.

"I was placed in the scanner and started a two-hour session. I have to remain completely quiet. I'm listening to the radio and I'm wondering what it will be like. How my new life in Birmingham will be.

"Will I speak English with a British twang? But I dozed off after half-an-hour and woke up an hour later. I just thought to myself, 'Shit, this is taking a decade'. I started to feel a bit on edge but fortunately for me, the MRI scan was fine."

The 20-year-old was courted by a number of clubs including Chelsea in the past 12 months, but committed his future to Villa by signing a four-year contract with Paul Lambert's side.
