Aston Villa defender James Collins emerges as a reported transfer target for Sunderland.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill will reportedly move for Aston Villa defender James Collins this summer.

The 28-year-old impressed for Villa last season despite their Premier League troubles, and the Welshman is widely considered as one of the most solid defenders in England.

O'Neill signed the defender during his managerial reign at Villa, and according to The Mirror, he is preparing another offer.

The Black Cats have already secured former Villa defender Carlos Cuellar on a free transfer this summer.
