Former England captain John Terry has reportedly decided to play on until the end of the 2018-19 season.
The 37-year-old left Chelsea last summer for Championship side Aston Villa and has helped the West Midlanders to the upper echelons of the table.
Terry's initial deal with Villa expires at the end of the season, and The Mirror reports that he could once again become a free agent this summer.
Rather than retire, however, the veteran centre-back has reportedly opted to play on for one final year, though the Villans face a battle to retain his signature.
Terry would have to take a paycut should the former European champions remain in the second tier, but would be in line for a sizeable bonus should they return to the top flight.
The former Three Lions star has made 28 appearances for Villa in all competitions.
