Aston Villa are reportedly close to securing the signing of Colombian winger Carlos Sanchez for a reported fee of £3.5m.
The fee has been agreed between Villa and Sanchez's club Elche, according to the Birmingham Mail, with the player needing to complete a medical and agree personal terms before the move can be confirmed.
The defensive-minded midfielder had an impressive World Cup campaign and attracted interest from Queens Park Rangers though a bid was never lodged.
Sanchez played in all of Colombia's games at the World Cup, helping his side to the quarter-finals where they were knocked out of the tournament by the hosts Brazil 2-1.
