Aston Villa have reportedly identified Trabzonspor striker Daniel Sturridge as a potential January signing.
Despite bringing in Mbwana Samatta as a replacement for the injured Wesley, Dean Smith is still looking to add to his attacking ranks with Jonathan Kodjia having left the West Midlands outfit in recent weeks.
According to Fanatik, Villa have expressed an interest in Sturridge, who was born in Birmingham and represented the club before turning professional.
After being released by Liverpool in the summer, the England international joined Trabzonspor, where he has contributed four goals from seven starts and four substitute outings.
While the 30-year-old still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, Villa are allegedly looking to seal a deal for just £4.2m.
Trabzonspor currently sit in fourth position in Turkey's top flight, five points adrift of leaders Sivasspor.
