Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams has insisted that he will never forget his African roots despite considering himself as a Basque.
The 20-year-old, who was born in Bilbao to a Ghanaian father and Liberian mother, became Bilbao's first black goalscorer in their history when he netted in last week's Europa League clash against Torino.
"I feel Basque, but a part of me is African. I was born here, I've been here twenty years, but my origins and roots are not forgotten. My parents were born in Liberia and you feel that your whole family is there. A part of me is also African," Williams told El Correo.
The striker netted 21 league goals in 32 games for Bilbao's second team before making the step into the first team this season.
