Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has revealed his delight after his team recorded a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
It is advantage Atletico in the last-four clash after Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez struck the only goal of the match at the Vicente Calderon.
Torres, who played the full 90 minutes, has claimed that his team had to 'suffer', but ultimately 'got what they wanted' ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena next week.
"It was a fantastic night and I'm happy for all Atletico supporters. We've got what we we wanted which was to get the scoreline in our favour and we have the second leg to come," Torres told reporters. "We suffered and kept suffering, kept fighting, that's what we do."
Atletico will continue their La Liga challenge at home to Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night.
