Diego Simeone has said that he 'feels lucky' to be head coach of Atletico Madrid after watching his team record a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
In a battle between the two favourites for Group E, it was Atletico that came out on top at the Vicente Calderon courtesy of a first-half strike from Yannick Ferreira Carrasco.
Simeone, who has hailed his team's "passion", also branded the result "one of the best achievements" he has had since taking control at the Vicente Calderon.
"I feel lucky to be manager of this club. It is a club with passion and a promise to play every game as we want. Today I liked everything. We pressed them well, when we sat back and set up for the counter we did it well," Simeone told UEFA.com.
"When we had to suffer we did. We were intense for the 90 minutes against a very hard side and it is one of the best achievements since I've been here at Atletico Madrid. The goal was a demonstration of how good our counter-attack game is and I am very impressed with how the side interpreted the tactical set-up."
Atletico will attempt to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they travel to Valencia on Sunday.
