Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Jose Gimenez and Augusto Fernandez both picked up injuries in the capital side's 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielder Fernandez suffered a knee injury just 16 minutes into the La Liga clash, while centre-back Gimenez had to be withdrawn before half time after suffering an injury to his right thigh.
The Spanish outfit have revealed that Fernandez has damaged knee ligaments, which is expected to keep him on the sidelines for a number of weeks, while Gimenez's thigh problem should keep him out of next week's Champions League group match with Bayern Munich.
Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal of the match at the Vicente Calderon as Atletico continued their unbeaten start to the new campaign, moving to within two points of the early leaders Real Madrid.
