Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that Jackson Martinez will show that he is "the best number nine in Europe" during his spell with the Spanish side.
Martinez joined Atletico in a big-money move from Porto in the summer, but has only struck one goal this season and has struggled to settle into life at the Vicente Calderon.
Cerezo, however, has said that the striker is "a fantastic player" and is confident that he will soon show his best form for the capital side.
"He's a fantastic player and he'll show it because he has a lot of class and wants to play and appease the fans," he told AS.
"He's the best number nine in Europe and it wasn't easy to bring him in, but he was interested [in joining us] from the beginning and I'm delighted to have him here."
Martinez cost Atletico in excess of £22m in the summer transfer window.
