Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has defended his tactical alterations as his side laboured to a goalless draw at Leganes on Saturday.
Following Wednesday's 2-1 home loss to Chelsea in the Champions League, the Argentine lined his side up in a 3-2-3-2 formation away to their near neighbours in La Liga.
However, Los Colchoneros were unable to break down their opponents at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque, creating very little as they left with just a point.
"I read the game in my own way, after the effort on Wednesday the best part of the game for us would have to be in the first-half," Simeone told his post-match press conference. "In the first 20 minutes we were able to hurt them, in the second half our fatigue was clear.
"The first half was the game we wanted, Correa was hurting them on the right whilst we controlled the midfield. Saul was impressive on the left and in the second-half the team started to feel the effort of Wednesday. It isn't easy to compete in the manner we play."
The result keeps Atletico three points off La Liga leaders Barcelona, who play Las Palmas on Sunday.
