Sports Mole takes a closer look at how each individual player performed in Real Sociedad's 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Real Sociedad picked up just their second La Liga win of the season on Sunday evening as the Basque side beat the champions Atletico Madrid 2-1.

The two teams were level at the interval following goals from Mario Mandzukic and Carlos Vela.

However, a late header from Imanol Agirretxe secured all the points for the home side, who moved out of the relegation zone in the process.

Atletico, meanwhile, who had Guilherme Siqueira sent off early in the second period, remain fourth in the table.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how each individual player performed at the Anoeta.

SOCIEDAD

Goal

Enaut Zubikarai: Looked a little nervous in the early stages, but improved as the match advanced. That said, the stopper had hardly anything to do against an off-colour Atletico. (6/10)

Defence

Carlos Martinez: A solid night for the Spanish full-back, who was very strong defensively and also offered an attacking threat in the final third. (7/10)

Inigo Martinez: Has scored twice in the league this season and came close to a third on a couple of occasions. Was a tower of strength at the heart of the defence. (8/10)

Mikel Gonzalez: Mandzukic found the back of the net for Atletico, but largely struggled to win the physical battle with Mikel, who was a rock alongside Inigo Martinez. (7/10)

Yuri Berchiche: Was a little untidy in possession of the ball and picked up a first-half booking before departing in the early stages of the second period. (6/10)

Midfield

Markel Bergara: Was not really seen as an attacking threat, but performed a vital role for his team - mopping up everything that occurred in the middle of the park. (7/10)

Esteban Granero: Was guilty of some sloppy passes in the first period, but improved in the second 45 minutes. Spent a large part of the match sitting in front of his back four. (6/10)

Xabi Prieto: Led by example when Atletico were reduced to 10 men. Always willing to take the ball in tight areas and produced some dangerous through-balls. (7/10)

Attack

Chory Castro: Slightly overshadowed by Vela on the opposite side, but still had a decent night without pulling up too many trees. (6/10)

Imanol Agirretxe: Missed a golden chance in the first period, but eventually got his reward with the winner late on. Worked his socks off in the final third. (7/10)

Carlos Vela: Has been below his best thus far this season, but returned to form in this match. Scored a stunning equaliser and caused Atletico all sorts of problems. (8/10)

Substitutes

Joseba Zaldua: Replaced Yuri early in the second period and immediately picked up the pace of the match. Set up his side's winner with a brilliant cross from the left. (7/10)

Pablo Hervias: Showed some nice touches after entering the field five minutes from time, but did not have enough time to make a serious contribution. (6/10)

David Zurutuza: Did not enter until the 87th minute and therefore had little time to make his mark. (6/10)

ATLETICO

Goal

Miguel Moya: Might have done better with Sociedad's second and looked more nervous than usual. Not the Spaniard's best performance in an Atletico shirt. (6/10)

Defence

Juanfran: Picked up an early booking and was a shade fortunate not to be sent from the field late on. Looked dangerous down the right, but was guilty of losing his discipline. (6/10)

Miranda: Almost cost his side a goal with a terrible back-pass in the first period and was beaten in the air by Agirretxe for the winner. A night to forget for the Brazilian. (5/10)

Diego Godin: Easily his side's best player on the night. Produced a heroic goal-line clearance in the first period and made a number of crucial interceptions. (7/10)

Guilherme Siqueira: Picked up two yellow cards within the space of two second-half minutes. Should have known better than to dive in on Vela while on a booking. (4/10)

Midfield

Mario Suarez: Picked up his side's first booking of the match after 13 minutes and faded from that moment. Was replaced by Ansaldi moments after Siqueira's red card. (5/10)

Gabi: Picked up his team's final booking of the match late on and did not look entirely comfortable against an energetic Sociedad midfield. (6/10)

Koke: Did his best to make things happen in the final third, but needed more from those around him. His set-piece delivery was also below the usual standard. (6/10)

Attack

Raul Garcia: Set up the opening goal with a brilliant cross towards Mandzukic, but like a number of his teammates, faded as the match developed. (6/10)

Mario Mandzukic: Opened the scoring with a powerful finish, but struggled in the second period. Looked out on his feet when the visitors were reduced to 10 men. (6/10)

Arda Turan: So often his team's most creative player, but the Turkish international struggled at the Anoeta. Strong in possession, but could not make a telling contribution. (6/10)

Substitutes

Cristian Ansaldi: Was introduced at left-back after the Siqueira red and set up a strong chance for Mandzukic in what was a decent cameo from the full-back. (6/10)

Antoine Griezmann: Did not enter until the 85th minute and saw little of the ball late on. (6/10)

Cristian Rodriguez: Brought some movement to the Atletico attack late on, but did not have enough time to really contribute to the match. (6/10)
