Carlos Vela came off the bench to rescue a point for Real Sociedad from their trip to Atletico Madrid this evening.
The home side created the first chance of the match in the 10th minute when Arda Turan crossed for Falcao. However, Atletico's leading goalscorer was unable to keep his volleyed effort on target.
Turan had a chance himself to break the deadlock as the half drew to a close, but he headed over the bar from close range.
The scoring was eventually opened nine minutes after the restart when Koke pulled the ball back to edge of the area for Gabi, who fired his right-footed effort into bottom left-hand corner of the net.
Gabi's match ended early though as he was handed his marching orders 17 minutes from time following a late challenge on David Zurutuza.
Sociedad tried to make their numerical advantage count in the closing stages, but Liassine Cadamuro and Diego Ifran saw their efforts blocked.
However, in stoppage time Arsenal loanee Vela reacted quickest inside the area to claim a share of the spoils for the visitors.
