Atletico Madrid struck three goals without reply during their home fixture against Getafe this afternoon.

Having dominated the opening exchanges, the hosts broke the deadlock in the 24th minute. Filipe Luis was the creator, crossing for Eduardo Salvio to head into the left hand corner of the net.

Despite continuing to control the contest, Atletico failed to add their second of the match until the 62nd minute when Brazilian midfielder Diego converted from close range.

The victory was sealed 13 minutes from time when the club's leading goalscorer Falcao managed to turn in a cross from Juanfran.

The three points have lifted Atletico up to seventh in the La Liga table.
