Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain Mauro Icardi as an ideal replacement for Luis Suarez.

The Argentine is facing an uncertain future at the Parc des Princes having failed to become a regular starter over Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi under Mauricio Pochettino.

Icardi has only struck five goals in 26 appearances this season in all tournaments, although he remained at PSG in January despite links with Premier League clubs and Juventus.

However, Todofichajes now reports that Icardi is not in Pochettino's plans moving forward, and the 29-year-old could now be shipped out to Atletico as Suarez's successor.

Suarez has entered the final six months of his deal with the La Liga champions and is thought to have his eye on a summer move to MLS, and the report adds that Atletico have already touched base with Icardi's entourage.

The former Inter Milan striker has struck 38 goals and set up 10 more in 88 games for PSG across all competitions and is contracted to the Ligue 1 leaders until 2024. body check tags ::
