Atletico Madrid midfielder Nicolas Gaitan has reportedly knocked back a £120,000-a-week offer to join Premier League strugglers Swansea City.
The Swans were prepared to spend big to lure the 29-year-old to the Liberty Stadium in an attempt to keep their survival hopes alive.
Gaitan has said no to a move to South Wales, however, with Spanish football expert Guillem Balague suggesting that the Argentine attacker will now likely remain at the Wanda Metropolitano until the summer.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone was happy for the former Benfica ace to leave this month, having agreed terms with Swansea last week over a January transfer.
Mexican side Monterrey are also said to have been turned down by Gaitan, who has not featured for Atletico since November.
