Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta has said that he 'felt bad' for Barcelona teammate Arda Turan after the Turkey international was booed by his own supporters.
Turan has struggled to inspire Turkey in the early stages of Euro 2016 and could not prevent his team suffering a 3-0 defeat to Spain in Group D on Friday night.
Iniesta, who plays alongside Turan at Camp Nou, has revealed that he 'offered encouragement' to the attacker at the end of the match, which has left Turkey battling to remain in the competition.
"It's difficult when you're whistled by your own fans. I feel bad for him. He's a good player and this isn't an easy situation. I offered my encouragement at the end of the match and I wished him the best for the rest of the Euros," Iniesta told Telecino.
Turkey can no longer finish first or second in Group D, but a win over Czech Republic in their final group match could yet see them qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams.
