Barcelona will reportedly be without the services of Pedri for the remainder of the year due to a thigh problem.

The 19-year-old made 52 appearances for the Catalan giants during the 2020-21 campaign before representing Spain at the European Championship and Olympic Games.

The midfielder has only made four appearances for Barcelona during the current season, though, with his last outing coming against Benfica in the Champions League at the end of August.

Barcelona boss Xavi had allegedly been hopeful of being able to select the Spain international in the early stages of December.

However, according to AS, the teenager will not be available for the Catalan giants until 2022 due to his troublesome muscular injury.

The report claims that Pedri has had two setbacks during his rehabilitation, and Barcelona are reluctant to take any chances over his long-term fitness.

The midfielder has scored four times and registered six assists in 56 appearances for his current club since making the move from Las Palmas in September 2019.
