Andres Iniesta has been ruled out of Spain's upcoming friendly against Costa Rica and Euro 2016 qualifier with Belarus with a calf injury.
The Barcelona midfielder picked up the knock during the Copa del Rey final last month, but was fit enough to feature in the 3-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League final at the weekend.
The RFEF said in a statement: "The medical staff of the national team have taken the decision not to include Andres Iniesta in the Spain roster after being informed of the player's muscular problems that he has had this week.
Spain, who are the defending European champions, sit second in their qualifying group for next year's tournament.
